The Four Seals Miao are one of the tribes of the Miao minority group in southwestern China. Without silver jewels like other tribes, the Four Seals Miao are characterized by their women’s unique garments embroidered with four colorful square patterns. Their clothes are usually blue or black. Women like wearing pleated skirts. Some women wrap their hair into a bun with a wide blue cloth at 12 meters in length.
A village called Maige is hometown of the Four Seals Miao. The village in Miao language means ” a place with many plants”. Long time ago, a tribe of Miao had to migrate to the mountainous areas in southwestern China after they were defeated in a war. They wanted to have a peaceful life, but not harassed by the enemies anymore, so they decided to destroy all their identity documents. When a Shaikh was ready to throw the four big seals, the symbols of the tribe, into fire, a girl stopped him: No! Before you burn the seals, please print their patterns on my clothes. So, the soul of our nation will never die.

Residing in the mountainous areas of southwestern China, the Miao minority group are divided into many different tribes with their distinct costumes. Some tribes are famous for their beautiful silver jewelry. The Magpie Miao, with a small population of 8600, live in six villages on the mountain. They got their name magpie from their unique costume which look like the plume of a magpie.
Women’s clothes have two striking colors: black and white. Their pleated skirt from the waist to the bottom includes 3 parts. The top is blue, which stands for the sky and the sea; the batik middle part highlights various, beautiful patterns, which represent fields, rivers, and lakes of their hometown; the embroidered bottom is about 15cm long, which indicates mountains, paths, and rivers their ancestors ever crossed.

Many young girls go through a big princess phase where everything they seem to like is centered around various princess themes. This typically happens between the ages of 3-5 years of age . This article will give you the steps to give your daughter a great princess themed birthday party that she will never forget but also will not cost a fortune . It will have it all from the hot pink decorations, to the make your own princess rhinestone tiaras station , to the princess themed lunch to the guests goodie bag things including rhinestone chokers for the small princesses to wear home.
Once you have the date picked out be sure to set a wise time for this 3-5 age group. Usually late morning leading into lunch is the best time and the party should not be more than two hours long . A lot of small princesses want everything to be pink and sparkly and this can be done inexpensively with a lot of crepe tissue rolls and pink balloons everywhere . Much more than that is usually a waste for this age group. A fun suggestion is to paint a huge castle on butcher block paper and hang it by the front door . Have all of the guests arrive in their princess costumes and take a Polaroid picture by the castle when they arrive with the birthday princess .

Here is some advice that comes from the desk of Lynn Watson about how you can look after the diamonds that are set into your jewelry pendants. Don’t forget that although diamonds may be strong and resilient, they should still be looked after with care. Consider them like fine china. Without care and attention, they can scratch and chip. All those oils from your skin and cosmetics, hair sprays and perfumes can also make your diamonds very dirty.
There are several ways to clean and store your diamonds. You can clean a diamond to make it look pretty quickly with a commercial jewelry cleaner that you either dip your jewelry in or soak them in a tub that gives it an ultrasound bath. Cold water and ammonia also work very well to dissolve oils that accumulate on your stones. Before dipping or polishing your diamonds with anything, be sure that you wont be damaging any of the other materials that your jewelry pendants are made of.

The gold standard refers to the use of gold as the “insurance” to back what a country’s paper currency was actually worth – if there was no physical asset to support the value of the paper, well, the dollar bill in your wallet was worth just that – paper. The gold standard has been in use in one form or another since the earliest days of coinage when rulers minted coins and the value of a coin was the intrinsic value of the gold or other precious metal contained within it. Stamping the head and name of the king or emperor whose treasury issued the coinage was not just a political statement as to who was boss, but also a symbol of quality control – you have one of my coins, I am saying it has this much gold included in it!
Pirates operating in the Caribbean raided Spanish treasure ships taking gold cargo back to the Old World – the problem was that their ill-gotten gains were too large a denomination to spend, especially when it came time to settling their bar tabs. As the gold was in a form which meant uniform purity and weight, the pirates and landlords of the inns they frequented would break the large standard gold coins up in to eight pieces – this is the origin of the pirate phrase, “Pieces of Eight”.
